A young Memramcook East man is dead following Monday’s explosion of a gasoline storage tank he was cutting for scrap metal. Léon LeBlanc, 22, died Monday night (14 janvier) at the Moncton Hospital of injuries received earlier in the day at the stockyard of Gould's Pump Service Co.

Born in Moncton, he was a son of Alex and Antoinette (Landry) LeBlanc of Memramcook East. He attended Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Memramcook East.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Landry of Memramcook East; a sister, Janel LeBlanc at home; two brothers, Emile and Gabriel, both of Memramcook East; several nieces and nephews.

The body will be at Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook, this evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes church at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
